National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has said the NACommitees for External Relations of Vietnam and Laos should continueto strengthen their coordination to enhance the effectiveness of thecooperation between the two parliaments.
TheChairman made the remarks during a reception for head of the Lao NACommittee for External Relations Coukeo Akhamunty in Hanoi onDecember 26.
He suggested that the two committeesshould actively exchange viewpoints and foster coordination at theregional and international inter-parliamentary forums, supporting mutualinterest of both countries for a region of peace and development and aunited ASEAN Community.
Hung praised the cooperationresults between the two committees, especially in the organisation ofevents marking the 2012 Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year.
The two sides worked closely in bilateral cooperation activities suchas a conference on Vietnam-Laos NA cooperation, the signing of a newcooperation agreement between the two NAs and the successfulorganisation of the 7 th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership meeting(ASEP-7) in Laos, he noted.-VNA
