Seoul (VNA) – A delegation from theParty Central Committee’s Inspection Commission paid a working visit to theRepublic of Korea from June 25-29 to learn from the country’s experience incorruption prevention.

During the stay in the RoK, the delegationhad a working session with representatives from the Korean Anti-Corruption andCivil Rights Commission (ACRC).

ACRC Vice Chairperson Kwon Taesung sharedthat for anti-corruption work, the commission focuses on improving theintegrity of the public administrative sector through coordinating nationalanti-corruption initiatives, assessing the integrity of State agencies and theimpact of corruption, refining ordinances and regulations, and enforcing thecode of conduct for public servants.

The commission has carried out activitiesto raise public awareness of corruption-related matters, boost cooperationbetween the State and private sectors, and issue the anti-bribery law toprevent corruption among public servants, heads of State agencies andorganisations related to public services, and rectors and teaching staff atuniversities, among others.

The delegation also visited Chung NamUniversity, which helps train 30-60 Vietnamese officials on publicadministration each year.-VNA

FLC Ex-Chairman Trinh Van Quyet tried in absentia due to illness

The court announced that Quyet had submitted a written request to be tried in absentia, citing serious health issues. According to an official statement from Hospital 19/8, the defendant is suffering from multiple illnesses, experiencing fatigue and shortness of breath, with doctors warning of a “very high risk of death.”

Russian scholar with lifelong dedication to Vietnam commemorated

Dr. Kobelev, born in 1938 in Ulyanovsk, was among the first Soviet scholars to specialise in Vietnam. As a former TASS correspondent during the war in Vietnam, he worked closely with Vietnamese institutions and later helped found Russia’s Centre for Vietnamese and ASEAN Studies.

Hanoi court cuts sentences in ‘rescue flight’ bribery case

Among those receiving reduced sentences were Tran Tung, former Deputy Director of the Thai Nguyen provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, whose prison term was cut to 10 years from 12, with six years for accepting bribes and four for abusing power while performing official duties.
