Jakarta (VNA) – A roadshow was held in Jakarta on May 3, aiming to promote theland, people, culture and tourism products of Vietnam to Indonesians.
Theevent is also expected to connect Vietnamese and Indonesian travel companies.
Inhis opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Pham Vinh Quang saidsince Vietnam and Indonesia established diplomatic ties in 1955, progress hasbeen made in the bilateral ties.
In2018, nearly 88,000 Indonesians visited Vietnam, up 8.5 percent year-on-year.However, the number has yet to match potential of both countries, the diplomatnoted.
NguyenThi Thanh Huong, deputy head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism,said the roadshow is set to lure more Indonesian tourists to Vietnam.
Indonesiahas been seen as a potential market for Vietnamese tourism, she said, addingthat the number of Indonesian holidaymakers to Vietnam has increased sharply overthe past time, hitting 36,500 in the first four months of this year, up 30percent year-on-year.
LaiQuoc Cuong, President of the Vietnam Travel Group and Vice President of theVietnam Society of Travel Agents, said the event has attracted theparticipation of many Indonesian travel companies.
AfterIndonesia, the roadshow is expected to come to the Philippines.-VNA
