The visiting Deputy Prime Minister andMinister of Education and Training, Nguyen Thien Nhan, and Russian Minister ofEducation and Science Andrey Fursenko reached the agreement during their talkson March 15.
The officials held that Russia will continue providingassistance in education and training, and increasing scholarships for Vietnamesegraduates and post-graduates.
Russia also agreed to help Vietnam upgradeits university libraries by setting up a connected electronic library centre,train specialists in Russian and send Russian language teachers to the SoutheastAsian country.
Deputy PM Nhan said Vietnam is willing to receive moreRussian students who have studied Vietnamese for internship and furthertraining.
Following the talks, the two sides signed an accord regardingthe reciprocal recognition and equivalence of education diplomas and scientificdegrees of Vietnam and Russia .
They decided to organise regularinter-ministerial meetings to examine the bilateral cooperation in education andtraining.
The same day, the Vietnamese delegation held talks withrepresentatives from the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation and signed amemorandum of understanding on the training of atomic experts for Vietnam .
On March 16, Deputy PM Nhan was received by his Russian counterpart,Alexander Zhukov, who affirmed that Vietnam is an important strategic andprioritised partner of Russia . The two countries need to exchange regularvisits, including those by top leaders, to further develop bilateral ties, hesaid.
Nhan highlighted the fraternal sentiments between the two peoples,and briefed his host of the results of education-training cooperation as well asthe outcome of the ongoing visit.
During his six-day visit runningthrough March 17, Nhan and his entourage laid a wreath at the statue dedicatedto President Ho Chi Minh in Moscow and called at the Moscow State University,the Saint Petersburg State University, the Saint Petersburg State PolytechnicalUniversity and the Bauman State Technical University./.
