Hanoi (VNA) - The State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) is seeking to deepen cooperation with the Public Audit Office of Catalonia (Spain) through increased exchange of professional delegations and sharing of expertise in areas of mutual interest and strength.

At a recent working session with the Public Audit Office of Catalonia, Deputy Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Vietnam Ha Thi My Dung said such collaboration could be promoted via expert exchanges, participation in training courses, and joint workshops hosted by both sides.

In a latter seminar, the two agencies discussed practical measures to enhance capacity and expand the operational scope of regional audit institutions. They agreed that, in the current context of public governance, regional audit bodies should not only act as “financial gatekeepers” but also play a consultative role in helping local authorities improve the efficiency of resource management.

Delegates exchanged insights on applying modern technologies in auditing, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, to detect risks, prioritise key audit areas, and improve public financial oversight.

The Public Audit Office of Catalonia praised the SAV’s reform efforts, especially its modernisation of audit methods and growing role of regional offices in detecting and preventing corruption and wastefulness. The office expressed its readiness to strengthen collaboration through expert exchanges, joint training programmes, and thematic workshops on IT auditing, performance auditing, and local public sector auditing.

Dung said the meeting and seminar not only opened up new prospects for cooperation but also marked an important step toward building a partnership bridge between the SAV and regional audit institutions in Europe.

She expressed her confidence that stronger professional exchanges, experience sharing in local audit management, and the application of digital technologies will foster mutual growth and contribute to the shared mission of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable public financial management./.
