Vietnam was followed by China (495 students), Thailand (164), Japan (48) and Australia (48).
According to the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports, for each ofthe last four years, nearly 2,900 Lao students benefited fromscholarships and overseas study in 26 countries.
Meanwhile, the country has also witnessed an increasing number ofself-supporting students travelling abroad to study, particularly inVietnam and China.
In 2014, the VietnameseGovernment will grant 907 scholarships to Lao students. Of them, 405will be intended for those specialising in science and technology and320 others for people enrolling on undergraduate and postgraduatecourses.-VNA
