(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Head of the Party Central Committee’sEconomic Commission Tran Tuan Anh hailed the growing strategic partnershipbetween Vietnam and the UK in various areas during a reception in Hanoi on June23 for Minister of Statefor Trade Policy in the Department for International Trade of the UK Greg Hands.
Anh said celebrationsfor the 10th anniversary of bilateral strategic partnership,issuance of a joint statement on orientations to development in the next decadeand the signing of a bilateral free trade deal last year provided an importantfoundation for the two countries to tap cooperation potential, especially ineconomy, trade and investment.
Expressing thanks tothe UK for supporting Vietnam in climate change response, Anh affirmed that theVietnamese Party and State always strive and make the highest commitment in theregard.
He also affirmed theVietnamese Party and State’s stance on give the highest priority to renewableenergy development, stepping up clean energy projects, towards graduallyreducing the development of coal-fired plants nationwide.
The host suggested theUK continue assisting Vietnam in the field and shifting to low-carbon economy.
Congratulating the UKon being one of the first countries in Europe and the world in terms ofCOVID-19 vaccination, Anh proposed the UK Government create more favourableconditions for vaccine provision and facilitate vaccine production technologytransfer to Vietnam, as well as waive copyright requirements for the country.
Hands, for his part,lauded Vietnam’s guiding role in climate change response in ASEAN and itsachievements in renewable energy development.
He suggested Vietnampool more resources to optimise the potential of renewable energy, as well asthanked the country for supporting the UK’s negotiations on joining theComprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership(CPTPP)./.
