Vietnam wins six medals at IMO 2016

Vietnam’s team won six medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2016, according to the Department of Educational Testing and Accreditation under the Ministry of Education and Training.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s team won six medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2016, according to the Department of Educational Testing and Accreditation under the Ministry of Education and Training.

The team’s only gold medal was won by Vu Xuan Trung, 12th-grade student from the Thai Binh High School for the Gifted, Thai Binh province.

Four silver medals were won by Dao Vu Quang, from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, Hanoi; Pham Nguyen Manh, from the High School for the Gifted of the National University of HCM City; Hoang Anh Dung, from the Lam Son High School, Thanh Hoa province; and Le Nhat Hoang, from the Le Quy Don High School, Binh Dinh province.

The remaining bronze medal was won by Vu Duc Tai, from the Le Hong Phong High School, Nam Dinh province.

With the results, Vietnam was ranked in 11th place.

The IMO 2016 was held in Hong Kong and ran from July 6-16 with the attendance of 602 contestants from 109 countries and territories. Of which, 280 students won medals.

The team will return to Hanoi on July 16.-VNA
