Havana (VNA) – The 36th meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-GovernmentalCommittee concluded in Havana, Cuba on November 30.

Addressing the closingceremony, Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diazsaid that the two sides agreed on a number of measures to enhance theefficiency of the committee, continue boosting trade growth and createfavourable conditions for Vietnam’s investment in Cuba.

The minister, who ischairman of the Cuba sub-committee, said that the measures also aim toimplement agreements reached between the two countries during the visit to Cubaby General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee NguyenPhu Trong in March 2018 as well as the visit to Vietnam by President MiguelDiaz Canel Bermudez last October.

Meanwhile, chairman ofthe Vietnam sub-committee and Construction Minister Pham Hong Ha noted the newcontents in the meeting’s minutes, which he said are in line with the specific orientationsgiven by leaders of both sides as well as the development demands in eachcountry.

At the closing ceremony,representatives of the VietnamInstitute for Urban and Rural Planning and the CubaPhysical Planning Institute signed an agreement on cooperation in implementing aprotocol on measures for construction planning and planning management tooptimise development resources of coastal economic zones.

During his stay inCuba, Minister Ha and the Vietnamese delegation paid a courtesy call to President of the Council ofState and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel. They also had aworking session with Secretary of the Party Committee of Havana Luis Antonio Torres Iribar and CubanMinister of Transport Adel Yzquierdo Rodríguez.-VNA

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
