Hanoi (VNA) – Secretary General and Chairman of the National Assembly Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc held a working session with visiting Secretary General of the Cambodian NA Leng Peng Long in Hanoi on March 22.
Phuc congratulated Cambodia on successfully holding the NA election (sixth tenure) with the Cambodian People’s Party winning the absolute victory, as well as the 27th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Siem Reap.
In order to further deepen relations between the two legislatures, he suggested facilitating visits and holding seminars and conferences to learn from each other’s experience.
Both sides need to work closely together at regional and global inter-parliamentary forums, promote the exchange of legal documents and information regarding each legislature’s activities, he said, adding that they should also share experience to improve the capacity of their support apparatus in line with their cooperation programme.
The host said bilateral ties have laid a foundation for collaboration between the two legislatures, thereby improving their role.
Meanwhile, the guest suggested that both sides should devise specific measures to realise initiatives by the two legislatures’ leaders, and expressed wish to share experience with the Vietnamese NA in law making, communications and public asset management.-VNA
