Vietnamese Deputy PM, FM meets with Governor of South Australia

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on October 18 met with Governor of South Australia Frances Adamson, within the framework of his visit to Australia and co-chairing the Vietnam - Australia Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

Sydney (VNA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on October 18 met with Governor of South Australia Frances Adamson, within the framework of his visit to Australia and co-chairing the Vietnam - Australia Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

Son expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful welcome of the Governor and the state government for the delegation. He stressed that the upgrade of the Vietnam - Australia relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has opened up many opportunities for cooperation across industries, fields and between localities of the two countries.

Adamson held that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework is opening up many cooperation opportunities for both Vietnam and Australia. She affirmed that Australia in general and South Australia state in particular always give priority and will continue to support Vietnam in socio-economic development.

Son proposed South Australia strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in areas of the state's strengths such as high-tech agriculture, food, wine production, renewable energy and hydrogen.

He recommended South Australia to consider opening a trade and investment office in Vietnam and encourage the state's major universities to open university branches in the Southeast Asian country.

Son also suggested the South Australian Government create more favourable conditions when issuing study visas for Vietnamese students and continue to support the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in the state.

Adamson said that South Australia wants to expand trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam through the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 and the Vietnam - Australia Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy (EEES).

The Governor affirmed that the state’s government will create favourable conditions to encourage businesses to seek investment opportunities, cooperate with Vietnam and further strengthen the connection between the two countries, especially between South Australia and Vietnamese localities./.
