More than 500 paediatricians from Vietnam, Denmark, the US and China are attending a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on Nov. 12-13 to exchange their experiences in improving the quality of health care services for children.

The conference also includes a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of cooperative ties between HCM City ’s Paediatrics Hospital 1 and the Denmark-Vietnam Friendship Association (DVA). On the occasion, the Ministry of Health will award its “For the Cause of People’s Health” insignia to two Danish citizens, Freddy K. Pedersen and Jorgen B. Prag in honour of their contributions.

The Hospitals Director Tang Chi Thuong said that the DVA has been working with the hospital for longer than any other organisation and this will continue in the future.

According to the doctor, this cooperation benefits not only his hospital but also 13 southern provinces as the association helps to further not only paediatric techniques but also assists the hospital in research and management skills.

The programme “For children’s life” is the latest project that both parties have worked together on and aims to reduce the mortality rate for newborn babies and limit the impacts of HIV on children./.
