Vietnamese government appreciates economists’ feedback: Deputy PM

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese government leaders always appreciate invaluablefeedback on directing the macro-economy from experts and scholars, Deputy PrimeMinister Vuong Dinh Hue has said. 

Duringa reception in Hanoi on March 13 for Prof. Andreas Hauskrecht, a public financeexpert at the Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, Hue said PMNguyen Xuan Phuc want to listen to feedback from his economic consulting group,experts from the Vietnam Initiative and scientists to continue refiningVietnam’s macro-economic policy.

Hethanked the professor for working closely with Vietnamese agencies to shareinformation, analyse domestic and foreign economic situations, and give policyrecommendations to the Vietnamese government.

Thehost suggested Prof. Hauskrecht continue assisting Vietnamese agencies in thenear future, particularly sharing information and experience in the US’sfinancial management system, connecting with the US’s prestigious professorsand scholars, and the world’s leading think-tanks and experts.

Hauskrecht,for his part, shared the US’s fiscal and monetary policies in the recent yearsand impacts on Vietnam, and offered recommendations to the Vietnamesegovernment in directing the macro-economy in 2018 and the following years.

Theguest described the Vietnamese government’s de-dollarization as a proper policyand suggested maintaining a zero-percent interest rate for the US dollar.

Heexpressed his impression on Vietnam’s economic growth in 2017 and support forthe policy of continuing to maintain macro-economic stability and ensure stableand sustainable growth in the near future.

The professor is on a working visit to Vietnam as asked by the coordinatingboard of the Vietnam Initiative at the Indiana University.-VNA
