Participants at the exchange (Source: qdnd.vn) Hanoi (VNA) - An exchange betweenyoung officers of Vietnamese and Indian armies took place in Hanoi on March 4.
The event was part of activities to implement the agreement between the twocountries’ armies on visit exchange of young officers, contributing to strengtheningtheir friendship and deepening the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategicpartnership.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant ColonelTran Viet Nang, head of the Army YouthBoard under the Vietnam People’s Army(VPA)’s General Department of Politics,highlighted the traditional relations between the two nations.
The strengthening of friendly relations between the twocountries, including defence cooperation, especially exchange activities of youngofficers during the past years, is significant for both armies.
For his part, Senior Lieutenant Mukesh Kurmar - head of the Indian delegation, gavean overview of young officer training system in his country and the basicfeatures of the Indian Army.
The Vietnamese and Indian armies have many similarities, Kurmar said, expressinghis respect for the VPA.
He hoped that the Indian delegation would learn how Vietnamese young officersare trained during their stay in the Southeast Asian nation.
Regarding future cooperation, Nang suggested the two sides more active in popularisingthe contents of the Joint Vision Statement on Vietnam-India Defence Cooperation for 2015-2020 and agreements signed between thetwo defence ministries.
The two sides agreed to boost exchanges and experience sharing, especially in UNpeacekeeping activities.
In the framework of the visit from March 3-9, the Indian delegation will paytribute to late President Ho Chi Minh in his Mausoleum, visit the VietnamMilitary History Museum and historical and tourism sites.-VNA
