Vietnamese, Singaporean FMs hold talks

FM Minh described the visit as an important event contributing to boosting the two countries’ relations.

FMK. Shanmugam expressed his impressions of Vietnam ’s success insocio-economic development and his belief that the country will gaingreater achievements.

The two FMs affirmed that Vietnam andSingapore will continue developing friendship and multifacetedcooperation in the spirit of the Declaration on the Vietnam-SingaporeComprehensive Cooperation Framework in the 21 st Century, signed in2004.

They discussed plans to boost bilateral cooperation,including preparations for the official friendship visit to Singaporeby State President Truong Tan Sang.

They also appreciated theannual political consultative mechanism at the Deputy Foreign Ministerlevel and agreed to hold the 6 th consultative meeting in Singaporelater this year.

The two FMs expressed their joy at theeffective cooperation in trade and investment between the two countriesand believed that the two sides should seek measures to allow moreVietnamese goods to enter the Singaporean market and enterprises of thetwo countries to boost linkages.

They praised the effectiveimplementation of the Vietnam-Singapore Connectivity Agreement andexpressed wishes that the two sides would expand the connectivity tourban management and human resource development.

The two FMs also exchanged views on other cooperative fields of education, tourism, culture and people exchanges.

Theyagreed to maintain close coordination and cooperation at regional andinternational forums like the UN, East Asia Summit, Asia-PacificEconomic Cooperation Forum and Trans-Asia-Pacific Economic PartnershipAgreement.

They shared the same view that peace, stability,security and maritime safety in the East Sea are of commoninterests of countries in the region and related sides needed to boostexchanges and consultation peacefully, avoiding the use of force.

Theyhighly valued the approval of guidelines for the implementation of theDeclaration on the Conduct of Parties on the East Sea (DOC) by ASEAN andChina as well as their agreement to work towards building the Codeof Conduct of Parties on the East Sea (COC).

The same day, thevisiting Singaporean FM K. Shanmugam was received by Prime MinisterNguyen Tan Dung, who expressed his pleasure at the fine development ofthe two countries’ relations and expressed his wish that the two sideswill continue to boost cooperation in every field, with priority on theagreement to connect the two economies.

FM K. Shanmugam informedPM Dung that Singapore hailed the guidelines for the implementationof the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties on the East Sea (DOC) andexpressed his wish that the Code of Conduct of Parties on the East Sea(COC) would soon be discussed and approved.

He added thatSingaporean businesses consider Vietnam an attractive destinationfor investment with an effective and stable investment environment. Healso expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Government will continue tocreate favourable conditions to attract more Singaporean investors.

Hepraised Vietnam ’s achievements in food production and hoped thatVietnam will boost cooperation and to become a stable supplier of foodfor Singapore in the future./.

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
