Vietnam-Pakistan trade value rises 30 percent

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Pakistan is forecast to rise around 30 percent from last year’s figure, trade experts said.

Two-way trade reached a record 113.6 million USD in the first quarterof the year, a year-on-year rise of 85.6 percent, according to theImports-Exports Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

According to the Department, tea exports fetched 6.6 million USD,representing 17 percent of Vietnam ’s exports to Pakistan . It wasfollowed by fibre and yarn with 6.3 million USD; seafood, 4.5 millionUSD; and pepper, 4.4 million USD.

Head of theministry’s Africa, West Asia and South Asia Department Ly Quoc Hung saidPakistan imported almost 17,600 tonnes of green and herbal tea worth32 million USD from Vietnam last year.-VNA
