Vietnam’s audit agency eyes partnership with France

Paris (VNA) – Auditor General of theState Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) Ho Duc Phoc has paid a visit to France to seek partnerships and learn from French auditing experience.

Phoc had a meeting with the National School ofAdministration (ENA) of France in Strasbourg, which provides training forsenior French officials.

He said building capacity and improving the quality of state auditing are priorities for the SAV to realise its development strategy by 2020 and its role asChair of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) from2018 – 2021.

He said the meeting is a good chancefor the two sides to start sharing experience and practices that can help theSAV strengthen its operations and management.

Alexandre Tran Chuong, Head of the ENA’sAsia-Oceania Department, said the school is willing to support the SAV inpersonnel training by sending experts to lecture at the SAV or admitting SAV officials on its courses.

Earlier in Paris, theVietnamese delegation visited theNational Assembly of France where they were welcomed by Sylvie Malgouyard, Officer Assistantof the Division of Interparliamentary Cooperation. The two sides discussed theorganisational structure  and coordination between the French Court ofAudit and the National Assembly.

The SAV has cooperated closely with the Vietnamese National Assembly’scommittees to strengthen state auditing quality, Phoc said. The agency has actively discussed with thesecommittees and learned fromexperience of supreme audit institutions of developed countries to increase itseffectiveness, he added.

He said his trip to France was part of the EU-fundedPublic Finance Modernisation Programme in Vietnam (EU-PFMO)./.
