Vietnam always attachs importance to relations with Laos and will make all-out efforts together with the neighbouring country to bolster bilateral ties.

This statement was made by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while meeting with Cheuang Sombounkhan, Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, in Hanoi on June 6.

Cheuang Sombounkhan, who is dubbed Minister-cum-Chief of the Lao Government Secretariat, was leading a delegation of the Lao Government Secretariat and Prime Minister Office to pay a working visit to Vietnam from June 3-9.

PM Dung was briefed on outcomes of the freshly ended meeting between leaders of the Vietnamese Government Office and the Lao Government Secretariat, during which they inked a memorandum of understanding on cooperation focusing on raising capacity for staff of the Lao Prime Minister’s Office.

The PM said the results would practically contribute to the fine traditional friendship between the two countries.

He expressed his hope that the two sides would enhance their cooperation in economics, defence and security.

The Government leader took the occasion to ask Cheuang Sombounkhan to convey his greetings to the Lao PM Thongsinh Thammavong.

For his part, Cheuang Sombounkhan underlined the significance of cooperation projects inked with Vietnam to his country’s development, especially to the traditional friendship between the two nations./.
