Vietnam and Laos have shared experiences in the protection of forests, water sources and the environment, and forestation.

This was part of a talk between Dang Vu Minh, Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for Sciences, Technology and Environment and Buntiem Phitsamay, Minister, Chairman of the Lao Authority for Sciences and Technology, in Vientiane on June 29.

The officials also agreed to strengthen cooperation in supervision of laws on protection of consumers, food safety and biodiversity in order to better serve people’s life and protect natural resources.

Later in the day, the Vietnamese delegation was received by Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Thongsinh Thammavong who said Lao has attached importance to sustainable protection and development of the environment.

The Lao National Assembly is discussing laws governing land, minerals and rubber growing projects in a move to protect the environment and its natural resources, he added.

Minh informed Thammavong of the results of the earlier talks between the two committees./.
