– The central coastal city of Da Nang has been selecting the best volunteers to serve the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in November, the most important external event of the city and Vietnam in 2017.

The city has received nearly 2,000 dossiers registered directly and online and selected nearly 900 candidates aged between 18 and 25 years to interview.

As many as 260 qualified volunteers will be selected to join activities chaired by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week,

They will be provided with training programmes held by the APEC National Committee in mid-October.

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and related meetings are scheduled to take place in Da Nang from November 6-11.

The event is expected to welcome leaders from 21 member economies as well as nearly 4,000 foreign and local reporters.

Established in 1989, APEC comprises 21 economies, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam.-VNA
