VUFO seeks to improve people-to-people diplomacy

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) held a seminar in Hanoi on December 28 to look into activities of its central-level chapters in 2017.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) held aseminar in Hanoi on December 28 to look into activities of its central-levelchapters in 2017.

Speakingat the event, VUFO Vice President and General Secretary Don Tuan Phong said theseminar aims to acquire feedback to improve the efficiency of people-to-peoplediplomacy in the near future.

Heasked VUFO chapters to promote collaboration and share experience towardscreating a collective power.

In2017, positive results were seen in people-to-people diplomacy, notably holdinga ceremony to honour Lao students, candle-lighting in Vietnam – Laosinternational martyrs’ cemetery, the ninth Vietnam-China People’s Forum, theninth Vietnam – India People’s Friendship Festival in New Delhi, a series ofcelebrations for the 50th founding anniversary of the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Arepresentative from the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA)suggested that each VCFA member from the grassroots to central level must fullygrasp the Party’s diplomatic guidelines and the association’s operationpurpose.

Participantsproposed stepping up administrative reform, connecting with overseas Vietnameseto attract resources, and boosting collaboration to build an efficient operationplan for the VUFO.-VNA
