European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival kicks off

Twenty-two documentaries will be screened during the European - Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival which will run from June 8 to 17 in Hanoi and HCM City.

Twenty-two documentaries will be screened during the European - Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival which will run from June 8 to 17 in Hanoi and HCM City.

The 9th European - Vietnamese Film Festival is held by Vietnam National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio and the European Union National Institutes for Culture.

Films from 10 countries and regions will be shown, including Austria, France, Israel, Switzerland and the UK.

Audiences have the opportunity to understand the countries, people, cultures of many countries through documentary films.

 “European documentary films participating in the event are prize winners at international film festivals, including those in Munich and Melbourne,” said Acting Director of the Vietnam National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio Nguyen Nhu Vu. Vietnamese films are those with higher quality, he noted.

One Vietnamese and one European film will be screened each night during the festival which will take place in both Ha Noi and HCM City.

Dao Duc Thanh, Director of Film “Professor Ton That Tung - A Revered Teacher” said: “I joined the previous festival as a cameraman but as a director at this year event”.

“The festival helps me have access to new ways of making films and better my understanding of documentary films,” he added.

All the films will be shown in their original language with Vietnamese and English subtitles. The screenings will be held at 465 Hoang Hoa Tham, Hanoi and Hoa Sen University at 8 Nguyen Văn Tráng Street, District 1 in HCM City./.
