PM extends New Year greetings to Lao, Cambodian counterparts

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 13 extended his greetings over the phone to Lao PM Thongloun Sisoulith and Cambodian PM Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the occasion of the two neighbouring countries’ traditional New Year festival.

During his phone calls, PM Phuc also conveyed New Year wishes from General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and people of Vietnam to leaders of the parties, states, governments, parliaments and people of Laos and Cambodia.

He believed that Lao and Cambodian people would continue to obtain greater achievements in the new year.

The PMs of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia expressed their determination to closely cooperate to maintain and foster the Vietnam-Laos and Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and solidarity for the sake of prosperous development and bringing wealth and happiness for people of the three nations.

The New Year festival, called Bunpimay in Laos and Chol Chnam Thmay in Cambodia, takes place in April every year, attracting tourists with displays of traditional culture, a festive atmosphere, and water splashing traditions to wash away bad luck and pray for a good new year. –VNA
