Hanoi (VNA) – Overseas Vietnamese have expressed their confidence that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam will usher in a new phase of development marked by decisive breakthroughs, reinforcing national unity and mobilising resources for the country’s long-term growth.

In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Nguyen Huy Thang, Editor-in-Chief of Viet–Duc Newspaper and Viet–Duc Television (VDTV), said he felt deeply honoured and proud to attend and cover the Congress as the only overseas Vietnamese delegate from the Germany. A well-known and respected figure within the Vietnamese community in Berlin, Thang described the Congress as a particularly important political milestone, opening a new era of development and national aspiration.

According to Thang, overseas Vietnamese consistently uphold the principle that Vietnamese people living abroad are an inseparable part of the national community and an important resource for national construction and development. From that perspective, he said, the 14th National Party Congress has generated great interest and high expectations among overseas Vietnamese communities.

He noted that attending the Congress in his capacity as an international journalist carried both honour and responsibility, particularly in conveying accurate, timely and accessible information to overseas Vietnamese audiences in Germany and beyond through Viet–Duc Newspaper, VDTV and related media platforms.

With more than five decades of experience in journalism, Thang said he would closely follow the Congress’s agenda and focus on highlighting its key messages, major policy directions and strategic decisions, as well as the aspirations of the people, especially against the backdrop of complex global and regional developments.

Reviewing the Congress’s documents, he remarked that they are concise yet comprehensive, reflecting thorough and meticulous preparation. He highlighted the Congress’s guiding motto of “Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development,” describing it as a clear demonstration of the Party’s determination, political resolve and the great unity of the entire nation in pursuit of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilised and happy Vietnam, steadily advancing towards socialism.

Thang said the emphasis on “breakthrough” resonated strongly with overseas Vietnamese, as it underscored the need for renewed momentum and bold thinking in national development, drawing on historical lessons of resilience and collective effort under the Party’s leadership.

Expressing his confidence in the Congress’s success, he said it will open a new phase of development with substantive breakthroughs, helping Vietnam move forward firmly in the era of national aspiration and growth.

Regarding expectations for policies related to overseas Vietnamese, Thang noted that in recent years, many proposals from the community abroad have been acknowledged and addressed, including policies allowing dual nationality. These, he said, have created favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to maintain close ties with the homeland and contribute more effectively to national development.

He expressed his hope that the 14th National Party Congress will continue to adopt forward-looking and inclusive policies, not only to attract overseas Vietnamese investment and material resources, but also to mobilise intellectual capital and high-quality human resources, particularly among younger generations, for the country’s sustainable development./.
