- Deputies of the 15th National Assembly (NA) passed the Law on Electronic Transactions (revised) with 468 voting in favour, equivalent to 94.74% of the total number of NA deputies, on June 22 - the 21st working day of the fifth session.
The document, which will come into effect on July 1, 2024, consists of eight chapters and 53 articles. Read full story

- President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee arrived in Hanoi on June 22 morning, beginning their three-day State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong. Welcoming the RoK delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Chairman of the President Office Le Khanh Hai, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung, and RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Oh Young Ju. - Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin has expressed his hope for stronger multi-sectoral cooperation with Vietnam, while meeting with new Vietnamese Ambassador to the country Nguyen Manh Cuong.
At the June 20 meeting, which took place after Cuong presented his credentials, the leader lauded Vietnam’s socio-economic growth and said he hopes that the Southeast Asian nation will facilitate Bangladesh exporting its key products such as textiles, garments, and pharmaceuticals to the market. - The Party’s aspirations and visions for the development of the country in a new phase set heavier responsibilities, greater honors, and more demands on the revolutionary press of Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong has said.
At the 17th National Press Awards ceremony in Hanoi on June 21– the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day - Thuong emphasised that the new period requires journalists and media agencies to strive even harder to deserve the trust of the people and meet the requirements of building a professional, humane, and modern press and media system. - The ongoing state visit by the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s President Yoon Suk Yeol, who is being accompanied by leaders of 205 RoK firms, including large ones such as Samsung Electronics, SK, Hyundai Motor, LG, and Lotte, is expected to further beef up the investment cooperation between the two countries.
During the 3-day visit, businesses of the two sides are expected to sign a number of cooperation deals as leading RoK manufacturers are seeking measures to ensure supply chains and expand exports. Read full story
- A delegation of Vietnam is attending the 32nd session of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) Assembly which opened at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on June 21.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Dao Viet Ha, Director of the Institute of Oceanography under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Chairwoman of Vietnam’s National IOC Committee, spoke highly of the commission’s role as the UN's main coordinating body on ocean science issues. She affirmed that Vietnam always supports the IOC to strengthen its role in promoting international cooperation for the conservation and sustainable use of seas and oceans. Read full story
- The Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (IPO) under the Ministry of Science and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) of the Republic of Korea (RoK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strengthening intellectual property cooperation at a ceremony on June 22 in Hanoi.

- The total volume of cargo transported through seaports in the first five months of 2023 reached 296.1 million tonnes, a slight drop of 3% compared to the same period last year, reported the Vietnam Maritime Administration.
Of the total, the volume of exports was over 71.7 million tonnes, down 7% year on year, while that of imports neared 84.4 million tonnes, a decrease of 3%. Meanwhile, nearly 140 million tonnes were transported domestically, while the volume transited was 681,000 tonnes./. Read full story
