Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at O.R. Tambo Airport in Johannesburg on November 21 morning, starting their participation in the G20 Summit and a series of bilateral activities in South Africa.

The activities, taking place from November 21–24, are held at the invitation of President of South Africa and President of G20 in 2025 Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa. Read full story

- Algerian media on November 20 continued extensive coverage of the activities of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-level Vietnamese delegation in Algiers.

The Algeria Press Service (APS) reported that during a meeting with Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the National People's Assembly (APN) of Algeria, the two sides discussed measures to promote bilateral cooperation across fields. They reviewed the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria and explored ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, and expand their partnership, particularly in economic areas. - Deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) held group discussions on the draft Law on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the morning of November 21 as part of their ongoing 10th session.

They voiced strong support for the bill, considering it an essential, forward-looking framework for a technology that will shape Vietnam’s competitiveness in the decades ahead. As countries are accelerating AI investment, the introduction of the law is deemed critical to prevent Vietnam from falling behind and to enable the country to seize emerging technological opportunities, they held. - President of the Senate of the Czech Parliament Milos Vystrcil on November 21 reaffirmed that the Czech Republic remains open to international students, including those from Vietnam, stressing emerging opportunities for cooperation under the Vietnam–Czech Strategic Partnership.

Vystrcil made the statement during a visit to the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), where he also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two countries’ diplomatic academies. Read full story

- The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee will convene its first-ever lawmaking forum in Hanoi on November 22, focusing on institutional and legal reforms to support national development in a new era.

The forum is scheduled to be chaired by NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man, NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, Chairman of the NA Committee on Legal and Judicial Affairs Hoang Thanh Tung, and Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh.Read full story

- Over 4,000 years of history have left the Vietnamese people with a rich and diverse cultural heritage. This heritage is not only an invaluable asset for the nation but also an important resource for sustainable development. In the context of strong globalisation and urbanisation, preservation of cultural heritage values has become an essential task.

According to statistics from the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, as of mid-2024, there were over 40,000 historical sites across the country, including eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 130 special national, 3,621 national, and more than 10,000 provincial relic sites. - A thin layer of frost appeared around the summit of Mount Fansipan in Ta Van commune, Lao Cai province, early this morning as temperatures dipped below 0°C, marking the first frost of the 2025–2026 winter on Vietnam’s highest mountain.

Visitors and local residents reported that the frost formed shortly before dawn, leaving a light white coating on pathways, stone steps and wooden platforms used for cloud viewing. The cold spell influencing Lao Cai has continued to strengthen and then stabilise, and forecasts suggest temperatures on Fansipan will remain low from late night to early morning on November 22, meaning frost may reoccur. NA Standing Committee discusses electoral affairs

Election preparations on track ahead of upcoming polls: NA Chairman

Frigate 015 – Tran Hung Dao concludes visit to RoK

During the visit, officers and sailors of the two navies toured Frigate 015 and the RoK Navy’s Munmu the Great destroyer, shared experience in training and long-duration deployments at sea, and took part in sports exchanges. Nhon Trach 3 and 4 thermal power plants reflect Vietnam’s determination, expertise: PM

The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power thermal plants, invested by Petrovietnam Power Corporation, have a total investment of around 1.4 billion USD.
