- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, along with a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, left Hanoi on October 20 for a three-day official visit to Finland.

- The official visit to Finland from October 20 to 22 by Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam is an important opportunity for the two countries to review the positive achievements in their past cooperation, and at the same time, set out major directions, renew their relationship, and create new momentum to elevate the traditional friendship and multifaceted collaboration to a new height, according to an official.
Talking to the press ahead of the trip, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang stressed that this is the first official visit by a Vietnamese Party General Secretary to Finland since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973. Read full story

- President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien delivered a report summarising opinions and petitions of voters and people, submitted to the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly, at its opening on October 20.
Chien said that the Presidium of the VFF Central Committee had received 114 reports containing 2,403 opinions and feedback from voters and people, in which they show their delight and appreciation at the results of the apparatus reform within the political system following the two-tier local administration model which is closer to the people and more proactive in serving them. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed an official dispatch requesting on a month-long campaign against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and promote the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
Issued late last week, Official dispatch No. 198/CD-TTg underscores that combating IUU fishing and lifting the ‘yellow card’ warning from the European Commission (EC) is a critical, urgent and top-priority task. Read full story
- Vietnam is emerging as one of the most stable and attractive investment destinations in the region, with huge potential for cooperation with China in many areas such as economy, trade, and technology, as the two countries pursue sustainable development and innovation, stated Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC).
In an interview granted to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Beijing, Shi said that ASEAN and China are both rapidly developing economies, with Vietnam emerging as a regional leading nation in growth thanks to its vast market potential and strong development capacity. Read full story
- The signing of the UN Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention) demonstrates Vietnam’s proactive engagement and prestige in global cybercrime prevention efforts as the country is hosting the opening for signature of the document on October 25-26, according to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Trieu Manh Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Cybersecurity and High-tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security.
In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Tung said that the event has attracted wide interest, given the growing cybercrime threats pose to national and global security. - The annual Vietnam International Digital Week (VIDW), set to take place in Hanoi and Ninh Binh province from October 27–29, will spotlight the pioneering role of policy and institutional frameworks in driving the development and responsible application of artificial intelligence (AI) toward sustainable growth and global integration.
According to Vu Thi Tu Quyen, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the fourth edition will feature a ministerial roundtable and six thematic sessions on 5G, digital infrastructure, AI, digital transformation, digital human resources, and digital enterprises. - As Vietnam is racing toward a digital future, cybersecurity is becoming a must to achieve sustainable development, safeguard national sovereignty, organisational and individual rights. No longer a discretionary measure, robust cybersecurity is now a prerequisite for national digitalisation.
\ Vietnam’s cybersecurity landscape is under siege from a surge in malicious content and sophisticated online scams. The proliferation of fake news, distorted information, and fraud, often enabled by the anonymity and cross-border nature of cybercrime, poses considerable challenges. Compounding the issue are a shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals, widespread use of unregistered SIM cards and fake bank accounts, fragmented data-sharing systems, and low public awareness of digital safety protocols./.
