Hanoi (VNA) – Measures to improve bilateral ties as well as solutions to the nuclear crisis in the Korean peninsula were discussed at bilateral meetings between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on November 11.

The meetings took place on the sidelines of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Vietnam’s Da Nang city.

In the meeting with President Moon Jae-in, the two leaders agreed that a peaceful solution through dialogues is crucial to address security issues in the Korean peninsula related to nuclear and missile programmes of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

They were unanimous on nomarlising bilateral exchanges in various fields as well as promoting bilateral strategic dialogues.

They also agreed to continue discussions next month when Moon visits China to attend the third bilateral summit with Xi.

Meanwhile, Abe and Xi reached consensus on promoting efforts to improve bilateral ties.

Xi expected positive developments in the bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, Abe wanted to deepen cooperation with China in settling the tension in the Korean peninsula.

This was the sixth meeting between Abe and Xi since the two leaders took office in 2012.-VNA
