- Chairman of the General Department ofPolitics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Luong Cuong had a meeting in Hanoion May 5 with Miao Hua, Political Commissar of the Chinese People's LiberationArmy Navy.

Highlighting Vietnam-China traditional relations and the twoarmies’ cooperation in wartime and national development, Cuong took note of thesuccessful visit to China made by Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy in March.

He said he believes Miao Hua’s current visit will furtherenhance affiliations between the two armies in general and between the twonavies in particular.

Miao Hua stressed Vietnamese and Chinese navies haveeffectively implemented their agreement on joint maritime patrol in the Gulf ofTonkin. The joint work has contributed to security and stability on the waters,he said.

The navies have regularly exchanged visits between theirmilitary ships, held sport, cultural and music exchanges as well as shared experiencein Party and political work, and in pirate attacks prevention, the Chineseadmiral added.

He said he hopes his visit will help deepen mutualunderstanding and the comprehensive cooperative strategic partnership betweenVietnam and China.-VNA
