Hanoi (VNA) – Around 500 domestic and international delegates are expected to attend the 38th Annual Conference of the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA 2025), which will take place in Hanoi from October 11–13, 2025, according to a press briefing on October 6.

The event, jointly organised by the Vietnam Bar Federation and LAWASIA, is one of the most significant international gatherings for legal professionals in the region.

Held annually in a member country, the LAWASIA Conference serves as a platform to connect ideas, exchange innovations, and discuss trends in the legal profession. It brings together leaders of bar associations, law firms, LAWASIA members from across the Asia–Pacific to discuss developments in law and legal practice, and to share experiences that contribute to peace and prosperity in the region.

This year’s conference, themed “Transacting in the Asia-Pacific – Legal, Cultural and Environmental Challenges,” will focus on pressing legal issues such as regional legal cooperation in the context of globalisation, the rule of law and judicial reform, international arbitration and dispute resolution, human rights, digital rights and technology law, and the role of lawyers in promoting sustainable development.

The event will feature 34 thematic sessions covering a wide range of topics, including criminal law, media, technology and data protection, environmental law, competition and antitrust law, constitution, labour law, international cybercrime, and strengthening peace, cooperation and development in the East Sea based on international law.

Vietnam will have about 15 lawyers and experts participating as speakers or moderators in key sessions. Hosting LAWASIA 2025 demonstrates the Vietnam Bar Federation’s active role as a member organisation and its contribution to enhancing regional legal cooperation.

According to the Federation, preparations for the conference — including logistics, security, and communication — are well under way to ensure the success of the event, which will also promote the image of Vietnam as a dynamic, friendly, and law-abiding nation.

Earlier the same day, the Vietnam Bar Federation also announced activities marking the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Lawyers (October 10, 1945 – 2025). A commemorative ceremony will be held in Hanoi on October 9, 2025, to honour the history and contributions of generations of Vietnamese lawyers and law organisations to national development./.
