The meeting, themed “Post-Crisis and Sustainable Development”, drew theparticipation of eight member countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia,Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam aswell as several international organisations such as the AsiaDevelopment Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB) and the UN DevelopmentProgramme (UNDP).
National Assembly Vice Chair Tong Thi Phong led a Vietnamese delegationto the event, which was one of the activities in the year when theVietnamese legislative body assumes the AIPA Presidency.
The four-day meeting focuses on reviewing the consequences of theglobal economic crisis and discussing the role of legislative bodies incoping with the economic crisis and measures to boost sustainabledevelopment in the post-crisis period.
It also aims to boost cooperation among ASEAN member countries’parliaments, contributing to their efforts to keep peace and politicalstability and expand economic cooperation./.
