Rome (VNA) –
Embassies of member countriesin the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) celebrated the ASEAN Family Day onSeptember 7.

The annual event aims to strengthen ties betweenfamilies of ASEAN countries’ representatives in Italy.

Philippine Ambassador Domingo P. Nilasco, who isalso ACR Chairman, said the event is also meant to consolidate their friendshipand solidarity.

2019 is the year to honour ASEAN’s culturaldiversity, the diplomat said, adding the organisation of cultural exchangeactivities will contribute to building a strong ASEAN Community.

Close to 150 guests were present at the event totaste unique food of ASEAN member states and join various team games.

Founded in 1967, the Association of SoutheastAsian Nations (ASEAN) groups 10 member countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia,Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand andVietnam.-VNA
