Hanoi (VNA) - One Indonesian policeman was killed and another severely injured in an attack suspected of being conducted by the self-claimed Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.

According to local authorities, the attack occurred in early morning when a man carrying a sharp weapon burned a police car and attacked several officers who were on duty at the Daha Selatan Police precinct in South Kalimantan province.

One of the attackers was shot dead by policemen.

Among items retrieved from his possession after the attack was a copy of the Quran and a handwritten letter calling for an Islamic holy war, or jihad, according to the police.

The police were probing the possible linkage of the militant with the IS group./.
