After nearly three months connecting to the national electricity grid, the Bac Lieu wind mill with 10 operational turbines has generated three million KWh, according to the mill’s managing board.

It has also signed a contract to sell electricity to the Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

Work is still underway on the construction of 52 other turbines with the aim of putting them into operation in late 2014. Once completed, the plant will have a total capacity of 99 MW, providing 320 million kWh of electricity to the national grid per year.

The plant, located in coastal Vinh Trach Dong commune, Bac Lieu city, is the second wind mill project in Vietnam , and the first of its kind in the Mekong Delta region. Total investment for the plant is 5.2 trillion VND (247 million USD).-VNA
