Phnom Penh (VNA) – Various activities celebrating the 68th Independence Day of Cambodia were held across the country on November 9.

A grand ceremony was organised at the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh under the chair of King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, President of the Senate Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the National Assembly Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, and Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang attended the event.

At the celebration, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni lightened the victory torch, which will last for three consecutive days.

In his speech, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen extended his congratulations to all Cambodian people on the Independence Day.

Firework displays are slated for November 9 and 11 at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh./.
