Soldiers participate in the joint military exercise (Photo: VNA) Phnom Penh (VNA) –Cambodia and China began the annual joint military exercise named Golden Dragon2019 on March 13 in Cambodia’s Kampot province with the participation of nearly3,000 soldiers of both sides.
This year’s drill is held underthe theme of anti-terrorism training and humanitarian relief.
The opening ceremony of theexercise was attended by commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian ArmedForces (RCAF) General Vong Pisen, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentianand Major General Feng Xiang of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
RCAFDeputy Commander in Chief Eth Sarath told the media that the 2019 GoldenDragon had grown bigger in terms of both soldier numbers and militaryequipment. He said soldiers of the two countries will train in the use ofanti-terrorism equipment, live-fire shooting, surprise attack, and search andrescue during the 15-day exercise.
This is the third year Cambodiaand China have held the joint military exercise. The first Golden Dragon drilltook place in 2016 and the second in 2018.-VNA
