Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodian Government has offered 70,000 USD as support to the family of each dead victim of the building collapse that happened on June 22 in Preah Sihanouk province, which is the most deadly incident in the country for years.

Meanwhile, each injured victim will receive 10,000 USD, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said at a press conference in Sihanoukville on late June 24.

He affirmed that authorised agencies will clarify the reason behind the incident and define if the construction of the building is legal.

Rescue work for the incident concluded on June 24. The bodies of 28 victims were found, while 26 workers are seriously injured.

Four people have been arrested for questioning in connection with the accident, including the building owner, head of the construction project, the contractor, and a Cambodian landowner.

On June 24, PM Hun Sen approved the resignation proposal of Governor of Preah Sihanouk province Yun Min and decided to replace him by Governor of Kampong Cham province Kuoch Chamreun.

He also made a number of changes in the positions of senior officials related to the incident.-VNA
