Cambodia to send 333-strong delegation to SEA Games 33

NOCC Secretary-General Vath Chamroeun said Cambodia’s participation in SEA Games 33 will receive special support from the host country. All Cambodian athletes and delegation members will be accommodated in the same hotel in Bangkok.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) will send a 333-member delegation to the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, which is scheduled to take place from December 3 to 20.

The NOCC said the Cambodian government had approved the participation of athletes, coaches and officials in 21 sports.

NOCC Secretary-General Vath Chamroeun said Cambodia’s participation in SEA Games 33 will receive special support from the host country. All Cambodian athletes and delegation members will be accommodated in the same hotel in Bangkok.

Chamroeun also spoke of the Olympic movement’s principle of non-discrimination. He noted that sports competitions should not serve as political platforms but should remain technical competitions that promote peace and harmony.

The sports Cambodia will compete in include athletics, swimming, equestrian, fencing, gymnastics, judo, taekwondo WT, triathlon, volleyball, football, wrestling, pencak silat, kickboxing, petanque, sepak takraw and chinlone, jet ski, karate, jiu-jitsu, wushu, table football and e-sports.

According to the tentative schedule, SEA Games 33 will be held in Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla with 54 sports from the 11 Southeast Asian member nations.

As the host of the 2023 SEA Games, Cambodia finished in fourth place, securing 81 golds, 74 silvers and 127 bronzes./.
