Cambodia-Vietnam relations to further develop: Cambodian journalists

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian journalists have believed that on thefirm foundation of the traditional friendship and solidarity, the relationshipbetween Cambodia and Vietnam will continue to thrive in the future.

In an interview granted to Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Phnom Penh ahead of the upcoming 40thanniversary of Cambodia’s victory over the Pol Pot genocidal regime (January 7,1979-2019),journalist Keo Chandara, Deputy General Director of the Agence Kampuchea Presse(AKP) – Cambodia’s news agency, affirmed the close attachment between the two Parties,States and peoples.

Cambodia and Vietnam have always been friendly neighbours, creating current fineachievements in the bilateral ties, he said.

Teav Sarak Mony, Editor-in-chief of Rasmei Kampuchea (Light of Cambodia), saidsince 1979, the Cambodia-Vietnam relations have developed positively, with theirincreased mutual support. Cambodia and Vietnam have worked together to buildtheir nations and prevent the return of the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime.

At present, the two countries have always united and supported each otherwithin the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) aswell as helped each other in economic development.

“The Cambodia-Vietnam relationship is really special as the two countries canassist each other for mutual development”, he stressed.  

On December 19, at a meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party ofVietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong during his leisure tripto Vietnam, CambodianKing Norodom Sihamoni expressed his pleasure with the continuously developingrelations between Vietnam and Cambodia over the past more than 50 years.

The two countries have enhanced collaboration in all fields, with the exchange ofmany delegations and increasing cooperation on regional and internationalforums, including ASEAN, he said.

The King noted that Vietnam is a large friend and close neighbour of theCambodian people, who never forget the great and valuable assistance of the VietnameseGovernment and people given to them in every circumstance.

He affirmed to continue following his father’s sound policy of fostering the solidarity,friendship and cooperation between the two nations.-VNA
