Communist Party of Vietnam delegation visits Japan

Tokyo (VNA) – A delegation of theCommunist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Phan Dinh Trac, Secretary of the CPV CentralCommittee and Head of its Commission for Internal Affairs, has been on aworking visit to Japan from September 24 to 30.

While in Japan, Trac met with Vice President of theLiberal Democratic Party (LDP) Masahiko Komura; Head of the Secretariat of theJapanese Communist Party Akira Koike; Minister of Justice Yoko Kamikawa; andState Minister for Foreign Affairs Kazuyuki Nakane.

The Japanese officials expressed their condolencesover the passing of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.

Highlighting the delegation’s visit in conjunctionwith the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties, theyaffirmed the bilateral relations are growing fruitfully.

They expressed their wish to boost collaborationwith Vietnam and the CPV, saying that exchanges through the party channelcreated a foundation for political trust, hence fostering the development of economiccooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and linkages in other sectors.

For his part, Trac praised the strong,comprehensive, and practical growth of the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategicpartnership.

He presented his opinions on measures to reinforcebilateral relations and called for Japan to expand investments in Vietnam.

The delegation also had working sessions with the SupremeCourt, the Public Prosecutors Office, the National Personnel Authority, and theNational Police Agency to study their experiences in anti-corruption andjudicial reform.

The Japanese sides shared information on the performanceof work ethics, corruption prevention, and completion of the legal system, and  pledged to support Vietnam in these fields.

The Vietnamese delegation also visited Shizuoka prefectureand laid a wreath at a memorial stele for doctor Asaba Sakitaro, which wasbuilt 100 years ago by Phan Boi Chau, a Vietnamese nationalist figure. Thedoctor had given Chau great assistance when he was in Japan as part of the DongDu movement in early 20th century that encouraged young Vietnamese to go Eastto study and seek ways to save the nation. The stele has become a symbol ofVietnam–Japan friendship.-VNA
