Havana (VNA) - Divisional General Víctor Rojo Ramos, Chief of the Political Directorate of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, has expressed his admiration for the remarkable development of the Vietnam People’s Army which is marking its 80th founding anniversary on December 22.
In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency, he highlighted the VPA’s historic triumphs, particularly the Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954 and victory on April 30, 1975 thanks to its sound attrition warfare strategy.Following the successes, the force focused on national defence and reconstruction, he said.
The Party and State have made unceasing efforts to modernise the armed forces through enhancing soldiers’ expertise and renovating military equipment. The nation and its military have made remarkable strides in advanced technologies such as drones and air defence systems, contributing to enhancing its ability to protect the people.
He went on to commend Vietnam’s “Four Nos” policy, describing it as a balance between maintaining peaceful diplomacy and ensuring territorial integrity. This policy, he noted, has become a valuable reference in international military doctrine.
Touching on the bilateral military cooperation, Ramos laid stress on the strong defence ties between Vietnam and Cuba, rooted in their collaboration in the struggles against colonists and imperialists.
The cooperation, spanning military training, technical expertise, intelligence, science – technology, and logistics, is a vivid demonstration for the time-honoured friendship as well as shared ideological principles and struggles. It has been brought to a new high following the signing of bilateral military cooperation treaty over 40 years ago, he added./.
