A direct flight service between Vietnam’s Da Lat resort city and Singapore was high on the agenda of a workshop promoting trade and investment in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, held in Singapore on October 21.

The seminar, jointly held by Lam Dong province’s authorities, the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority and the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, was attended, on the Singaporean side, by representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority, Changi Airport, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, CJ Group, Centurion Corporation Limited, Tiger Air, the Fruits and Vegetables Importers and Exports Association and many logistics and travel companies.

Chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee Nguyen Xuan Tien pledged the province will create favourable conditions for local and foreign enterprises to develop tours to Da Lat, adding that Lien Khuong Airport in the province has been upgraded to meet ICAO standards on international flights.

Lam Dong will also facilitate the flow of passengers and cargo via Lien Khuong airport through fast and convenient migration procedures, he added.

According to Ambassador to Singapore Tran Hai Hau, great opportunities for cooperation are opening up for enterprises of both Singapore and Lam Dong province, as trade and investment ties between Vietnam and the island are developing strongly.

Vietnam and Singapore have elevated their bilateral ties to strategic partnership and are implementing a framework agreement on connectivity, which will offer favourable conditions for Singaporean businesses to promote cooperation with Lam Dong province, Hau added.

The Vietnamese Embassy will do its utmost to assist businesses of the two sides, the ambassador said.

Participants affirmed once being operational, the Da Lat-Singapore air route will open up a host of chances for Lam Dong province to develop trade and tourism with Singapore in particular and the Southeast Asian region in general.-VNA
