The central city of Da Nang has recorded a sharp increase in thenumber of international arrivals in the first quarter of 2014, up asmuch as 10-20 percent, according to travel agents Vitours, Vietravel andSaigontourist.
At present, Asian tourists, especiallyChinese visitors, are flocking to the city in large delegations of up to1,000 people. From Da Nang, they travel to nearby attractions in thecentral provinces of Quang Nam, Thua-Tien Hue and Quang Binh and theneighbouring town of Hoi An.
Tourism experts attribute theincrease to Da Nang city’s selection by Smart Travel Asia – Asia’s mostprestigious online tourism magazine – as one of Asia’s top tendestinations in 2013.
Agoda.com – a famous e-booking website inAsia – has suggested that Da Nang’s fast economic growth rate, leadingto an increasing number of new hotels and trade centres, is a keyfeature attraction.
Da Nang is also considered one of emergingten tourism destinations in Asia in 2014, alongside Mandalay (Myanmar),Kenting (Taiwan), Okinawa (Japan) and Lombok (Indonesia).-VNA
