Phnom Penh (VNA) – The community support fund of the Vietnamese Embassy and theVietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank)’s subsidiary inCambodia on December 9 presented 16,180 USD to the Khmer –Vietnam Association's chapter in Kandal province to fund the construction of a new headquarters for the chapter and the upgrading of its school.
Of the sum, Agribank donated 8,000 USD in response to theVietnamese Embassy in Cambodia’s call for social assistance to help the association’schapters to build headquarters and community houses.
The chapters in Pursat and Kampong Cham will be the nextones to receive similar support. Currently, nine chapters of the Khmer –Vietnam Association do not have their own headquarters or community houses.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Thanh Thuy, vice presidentand general secretary of the association thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and Vietnamese firms operating in Cambodia, particularly Agribank, forsupporting the building of schools for children of Cambodians of Vietnamese originin Kandal in particular and in Cambodia in general./.
