Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong HoaBinh has ordered ministries to constantly review laws and regulations ontrading to consolidate the legal framework for the fight against fake goods.
Addressing a meeting on the Day against Counterfeit Goods inHanoi on November 30, the Deputy PM also urged the customs and border guardforces to intensify efforts to prevent the import of such goods through bothofficial and unofficial channels.
Businesses should cooperate with relevant agencies in marketmanagement, improve their own distribution networks and get ready to provideinformation to law enforcement forces in order to assist with the detection andpunishment of violations, he said.
He requested the Vietnam Association for Anti-counterfeitingand Trademark Protection (VATAP) to contribute feedback and recommendations tothe process of building regulations in the field.
According to Dam Thanh The, Chief of the Office of theNational Steering Committee for fighting smuggling, fake goods and tradefrauds, the market management force has carried out 145,000 inspections so farthis year and detected 88,000 cases of trading and transport counterfeit goods.
However, smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods arestill rampant, causing great concern in society.-VNA
