Khanh Hoa (VNA) - In the midst of difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, departments, sectors and socio-political organisations in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa have spent the local pandemic prevention and control fund and mobilised resources to support foreigners living and working in the locality.

Russian-language teacher Kontrabayeva Gulzhan said that since the COVID-19 outbreak in Khanh Hoa, she has to stay at home and has no income. She rents an apartment for 4 million VND (175 USD) a month, but for many months, she has no money to pay for the house and electricity and water costs as well. Thanks to the assistance from the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association in Khanh Hoa province, the landlord has reduced the rent to 2.5 million VND a month.

She said she and many friends are very grateful for the help of Khanh Hoa people at this time.

Like Gulzhan, Larisa and Denis Dugina, a Russian couple living in Nha Trang city, have received much support from locals.

They shared their impressions with efforts made by local authorities and people to ensure that no one is left behind.

"The association wishes to give the best support and help to foreign friends living here. Over the past few months, in the context of the complicated developments of the pandemic, we have tried our best to help our Russian friends,” emphasised Thanh.

Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Duong Nam Khanh said that the province is home to more than 3,000 foreigners. Due to impacts of the pandemic, many foreigners working in the tourism industry are facing many difficulties and forced to quit their jobs and stay at home.

The department has called for support from donors to help them, and created the best conditions for them to ensure their health and safety. To date, more than 250 foreigners in Khanh Hoa have been vaccinated against COVID-19./.
