Former Russian military experts in Vietnam get together

Forty-eight Russian military experts, who once worked in Vietnam, gathered at a meeting in Moscow, Russia, on August 5.

Forty-eight Russian militaryexperts, who once worked in Vietnam, gathered at a meeting in Moscow, Russia,on August 5.

The gathering, the 48th of its kind, was held bythe Vietnam Embassy in Russia in collaboration with the Vietnam military attachéoffice, the Association of Vietnamese and the Association of Vietnamese War Veteransin Russia.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Chargé d'Affaires toRussia Nguyen Quynh Mai expressed her delight to join the event and meet the formerRussian experts, who helped Vietnamese people during the past struggle againstthe US.

She also read out loud a letter from Vietnamese Ambassadorto Russia Ngo Duc Manh to N. Kolesnik, head of the association of formerRussian military experts in Vietnam. The letter highlighted the appreciationtoward the experts’ support for Vietnamese people in the past and today. Itstated the Vietnamese people never forget Russian assistance during thecountry’s most difficult periods.

August 5, 2018 marked the 48th foundinganniversary of the association of former Russian military experts in Vietnam.

Tens of thousands of Russian experts devoted their youth tohelp Vietnam regain independence and reunification. In recognition of theirgreat contributions, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Statehave conferred many noble orders to the former experts, who continue to workfor the Vietnam-Russia friendship at present.-VNA
