Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham BinhMinh hosted Carlos Gutierrez, former United States Secretary of Commerce andChair of Albright Stonebridge Group, in Hanoi on January 14.

At the meeting, Minhaffirmed Vietnam attaches importance to its comprehensive partnership with theUS, particularly in trade and investment.

Two-way trade hit 60billion USD in 2018, bringing about practical benefits to both sides, hestated.

He emphasised thatVietnam has a policy of developing an independent, open and self-relianteconomy and creating favourable conditions for foreign investors, includingthose from the US.

The policy has helpedthe country gain great achievements over the past years, he said, adding thatVietnam has signed and will ink a series of bilateral and multilateral freetrade agreements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement forTrans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) which becomes effective on January 14.

He expressed his hopethat the Albright Stonebridge Group will continue consulting US enterprises toexpand their investments in Vietnam.

Carlos Gutierrezshowed his impression with Vietnam’s rapid changes, especially in economics andinfrastructure.

He affirmed tomaintain his contributions to the development of US-Vietnam relations.-VNA

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
