Fronts of Vietnam, Laos augment cooperation

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) shared experience and agreed to push ahead with cooperation during talks in Hanoi on April 25.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) andthe Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) shared experience and agreed topush ahead with cooperation during talks in Hanoi on April 25.

Expressing his delight at the development of the two countries’ specialrelations, President of the VFF Central Committee Do Van Chien noted the twosides have maintained mutual visits and meetings at all levels.

Particularly, both countries successfully organised celebrationsof the 60th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and 45 years since thesigning of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 2022, he wenton.

At the talks, the two sides informed each other about theirrespective countries’ socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2023, resultsof the two Fronts’ activities recently, along with their focuses for the timeahead.

They highly valued results of bilateral cooperation,especially after leaders of the VFF and LFNC signed a cooperation agreement for2022 - 2027.

Last year, the two sides successfully held the sixthinternational conference on building the Laos - Vietnam border of peace, friendship,and cooperation for common development in Savannakhet province of Laos. They alsosigned an emulation agreement for 2022 - 2025 between the VFF and LFNCcommittees of the two countries’ border provinces.

To effectively implement the cooperation deal for 2022 - 2027, Presidentof the LFNC Central Committee Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune recommended both sides quicklycarry out the joint communiqué on the building of the Laos - Vietnam border ofpeace, friendship, and cooperation for common development for 2022 - 2025, andcoordinate to organise a meeting of the leaders of the Fronts of Laos, Vietnam,and Cambodia in Laos this year.

He also called on the VFF Central Committee to help the LFNChold workshops and training courses, especially those on supervision andfeedback activities, for its personnel, while sharing experience in mobilising expatriates’contributions to the homeland and enhancing solidarity among people of allsocial strata.

On this occasion, Chien thanked the LFNC Central Committee andrelated agencies of Laos for working closely with the VFF and other Vietnamese partnersto create conditions for Vietnamese people to work and settle down in Laos. He alsoasked the LFNC leader to continue advising the Lao Party and State to providemore favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to develop in thecountry.

The Vietnamese official affirmed that the VFF will do its utmostto help nurture the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensivecooperation between the two countries./.

General Secretary and President Lam believed that the two countries will continue tapping their potential for cooperation in trade, agriculture, maritime affairs, aviation, logistics and digital transformation, thus making bilateral ties more substantive, effective and sustainable for the benefit of their people and contributing to peace, cooperation and development in both regions.

In his speech, General Secretary and President Lam stressed that Mulino's official visit holds special significance for bilateral ties. He expressed his belief that the visit will not only resume high-level contacts after a long gap but also give new momentum to ties, moving them into a more substantive, effective and deeper phase.

Both sides agreed that there is ample room for cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and services. They pledged to step up joint work in the economic, trade, investment, agriculture, port logistics, finance, banking, tourism and transport sectors, as well as other areas of mutual strength. They also plan to continue negotiating agreements on investment protection, aviation and other areas to create a more favourable framework for expanding cooperation.

The documents include an agreement on maritime transport cooperation between the Governments of Vietnam and Panama, an agreement on cooperation in combating transnational crime, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation, and an MoU on tourism cooperation between the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and the Panama Tourism Authority.

CPV, Hungarian Workers' Party seek to deepen ties
