Ha Tinh: legal proceedings started on big drug trafficking case

The police of the central province of Ha Tinh has issued a decision to detain and start legal proceedings against four men for their roles in a big drug trafficking case.

Ha Tinh (VNA) – The police of the centralprovince of Ha Tinh has issued a decision to detain and start legal proceedingsagainst four men for their roles in a big drug trafficking case.

The four are Nguyen Thanh Trung, 34; Dao Viet Son, 27, bothfrom Son Tay commune, Huong Son district of Ha Tinh; Nguyen Anh Tuan, 28, fromJim Lien commune, Nam Dan district of Nghe An; and Nguyen Huu Phuoc, residingin Ky Anh town of Ha Tinh.

Trung and Son were accused of trafficking heroin, andillegally keeping and using military weapons, while Tuan and Phuoc will standat the court for the charge of trafficking drug.

Earlier on February 15, the Ha Tinh police and theInvestigation Department of Drug-Related Criminals under the Ministry of PublicSecurity discovered two suspicious cars with Trung, Tuan and Phuoc aboard onHighway 8C from Duc Tho and Huong Son districts of Ha Tinh heading to Son Giangcommune of Huong Son district.

A car carrying Trung and Tuan crashed into a police carbefore falling to a field, while Phuoc who drove the other car abandoned thevehicle and escaped into the jungle in Son Giang commune.

Trung and Tuan held their gun and grenade and holed up inthe car. Convinced by the police, Tuan and Trung then gave up themselves to thepolice.

Checking the cars, the police seized 9kgs of crystal meth, agun and one grenade, and many knives.

One day late, Phuoc also gave himself up.

On February 16, the police arrested Son at his own house,seizing 1,800 tablets of meth and one grenade.

The local police have expanded their investigation of thecase and arrested more suspects related to the ring.-VNA
